Friday :)

Friday has arrived, and so has the rain! It is wet and cold. I dropped Max and Mia off at school and then Zack and I headed to Starbucks for hot chocolate. I had planned on making a quick trip through the drive thru but I guess everyone else in town had the same idea. The line of cars was tangled through the parking lot. We parked and ran inside quickly. (rain + hair = frizz)
Starbucks is a happy place. Right now the store is filled with holiday decorations and gifts. The people inside were warm and friendly. The hot chocolate was delightful! It was a great start to my weekend and a perfect kick-off for the Christmas season. (tomorrow is December 1st you know...time to get the holly jolly started!)

I have a feeling a batch of these would help with the merry making.

I need caramel sauce ASAP!

Have a lovely weekend :)

Bunhead

On Sunday Mia noticed a girl wearing her hair in a HUGE bun. I told Mia that there was probably a sock in her bun. Mia loved the idea! She asked me why I hadn't put a sock in her buns!
Today, for ballet, we gave Mia her first "sock bun".
We both laughed at how big it was!
I hope it stays put through all of the dancing.
There are about 20 bobby pins hiding in that thing!
I love my little bunhead :)

The Littlest Birthday Girl

Tomorrow is Zoey's birthday!
The little miss will be turning 1.
Her first year has been full and fast. She is growing more beautiful every day. She is such a little darling and I hope she knows how much she is loved!

Zoey has just started to walk. She still prefers to crawl or to be carried, but she CAN walk if she wants to!

Zoey enjoys pancakes, bananas, and lots of warm milk.

She loves her brothers and sister (and appreciates them allowing her to play with their toys)

She loves to dance to music and clap her hands.

and she is obviously destined for greatness :)

Happy Birthday Zoey!

Sunday Morning Musings

1. I need a new camera. Mine takes terrible pictures and the batteries fall out all of the time. It needs to be held together with duct tape.....any recommendations? I am looking for something pretty simple but fast enough to take cute pictures of my busy little babies.

2. Littlest Pet Shop has taken over Mia's room and life.

3. Thanksgiving weekend has been wonderful. Tomorrow everyone goes back to work and school. It will be good to get back to routine, but I will miss all of the play time we have had

4. I have spent most of the morning freezing. I cuddled in front of my space heater and added an extra pair of socks to my feet.

5. I want/need to bake these brownies:

Happy Sunday!

A Kitchen

I adore kitchens and I absolutely love this one!
It was designed by Tyler Florence and featured in House Beautiful magazine as kitchen of the year.
Can you see the double ovens? :)
 I love the dark cabinets.
The seating is perfect. I love having company in the kitchen.
A large rack full of copper pots. Delightful.
Maybe in 10 years, when the student loans have been paid......

Cookies

I was planning on making caramels today. I went to the store and bought brown sugar and a few new pans. At home I realized I was out of corn syrup. I always go to the store and then come home only to find I have to go back!
Instead of running right back to the store I am going to make a big batch of Peanut Butter Blossoms
(I found the recipe at How Sweet Eats)
These are the kids favorite Christmas cookie. I think they just like to steal the kisses out of the middle, but we always have a great time making them together. So cookies it is!

Black Friday (my way!)

The day after Thanksgiving is always an ideal day for me. I do not go shopping. We all wear comfortable lounge clothes. We eat turkey sandwiches, listen to Christmas music, and break out the Christmas decorations!
We are getting a live tree again this year so we are waiting a bit longer to get it, but everything else is out. I love how excited my kids get about Christmas decorations. It reminds me of how magical this season can be.
Zoey was napping during most of the process. She woke up in a very silly mood.

This was just after she got up.
Sleep makes babies friendlier. (it works with grown-ups too)
After the decorations were up and the baby was too I decided it was time to start working on the Christmas candy. I made 2 batches of fudge; chocolate hazelnut and rocky road. (I always use THIS recipe from Nigella Lawson. I have been making it for years and we love it!)
Tomorrow we move onto the caramels!
I am loving this weekend :)

Happy Friday!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving has arrived and it is officially holiday time!
Ty took the older kids to the park for our ward soccer game this morning. I am at home with Zoey, listening to Christmas music and scheduling out the cook times for the feast.
Raspberry crumb tart awaits us. (In addition to turkey and yams of course!)
I am off to whip some cream!
