C is for Cookie

Image result for c is for cookie
We started the school week with the letter C!
I showed Zoey the "C" is for Cookie video from Sesame Street, and then we got busy coloring a page full of chocolate chip cookies.
Zoey practiced counting using the cookies. We put the cookies into the cookie jar and sang, "Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar". Zackary joined us for that. They loved it!
We used the cookies to outline a big letter C, and then Zoey did a little writing practice.
School was short today, because Zoey had her first day of speech therapy! It went better than I could have hoped for and Zoey loved it.

B is for Bug

Today we started our B is for Bugs unit! We read a lot of Eric Carle books, inluding The Very Hungry Caterpillar!
Zoey painted an egg carton caterpillar.
We talked about the caterpillar changing into a butterfly and painted some of those too! (We used bowtie pasta for the butterflies)
Finally we watched the book made into a little movie.
So much fun!

B is for Bear

This week we are focusing on the letter B!
Zoey is getting better at writing her own name, and we are working on tracing.
We read "We're Going on a Bear Hunt", and watched it performed by the author online.
We made a map and put together a pair of toilet paper roll binoculars so that we could go on a bear hunt of our very own. This activity was a huge hit and we did it several times throughout the morning.
 Zoey did a little painting.
This is her little letter b and big letter B, side by side.
School is going well for Zoey!
The big kids are enjoying their classes as well. Mia brought home her first homework of the year yesterday. We were kind of sad, but we got it done quickly! It looks like Max will be reading a lot this year and doing lots of projects with not so much busy work homework.
The weather has been hot hot hot! I am ignoring it though, and dreaming of fall.

A is for Alphabet

Today we kept our focus on the letter "A", but we moved from apples to the alphabet.
Zoey put together a train puzzle with alphabet letter train cars.
I found these adorable little alphabet cookies at Trader Joe's. We were able to make the whole alphabet and then have snack time!
 We read several books.
Zoey did a little tracing and coloring.
We finished with this video. It was actually really good! I found it at the library while I was looking for ABC books for today. Libraries are such awesome resources!

More Apples, and a quick life update

Today we read "Ten Apples Up On Top".
We colored and cut out 10 apples and stacked them all together.
Everyone seems to be adjusting well to the new school year. I am finally caught up on all of the necessary school supplies for the older kids. Speech will be starting soon for Zack at the elementary school and for Zoey through the district. Max has resumed his cornet lessons, but band practices won't be starting for another month or so. I am loving spending time at home with Zoey. It was a good choice to keep her home for preschool this year. I am trying to keep up with the chores at home and I am running as much as possible!
We are very busy, but trying to find joy every day!

A is for Apple

Today we started working on the letter "A" using a fun apple theme.
Zoey made patterns using red and green apples. She practiced writing the letter A, and made a paper apple tree filled with apple jack cereal apples.
We used apples to measure. How many apples tall is Zoey?
About 13 :)

We are making apple muffins for an after school snack for the big kids.

Preschool at home is going well!

Tiny Tea Party

School starts tomorrow! Tonight we will be heading over to the school to meet the teachers. I can't believe summer vacation is over. It has been wonderful.
Today the girls put together a little tea party with fancy dishes and not so fancy snacks :)
We are hoping for a wonderful school year. I am going to try and savor the little moments we have in between all of the business.
