Painting and More Ducks

 We started the day off with a little painting. The painting was originally supposed to be a duck in water, but Zoey decided to go her own direction with the project!

 She did humor me and practiced the letter "D" on her painting page.

 Next we read The Story About Ping. I grew up reading this book and love it.

 We used 5 of the duckling cutouts from Tuesday to act out the 5 Little Ducks song.

We did a little handwriting practice with Zoey's name and then it was time for a Sesame Street break. Thank goodness for Sesame Street :)

Rice Krispies

 We are big fans of rice krispies treats. We have been making them all summer and bringing them with us to the pool.

Zoey and I made a batch of brown butter peanut butter krispies treats the other day while the older kids were at school.

They were pretty awesome! Zoey approved :)

Little White Dress

 Little Miss Mia will be getting baptized next month! 

We picked out a little white dress for the occasion and had a photo shoot outside of the Redlands temple.

 We took the pictures ahead of time so that I would have them for the baptism day.

 Mia is a beautiful daughter of God. I seriously can't believe she is mine!

 She is very excited for October to arrive!

Around the House

My parents had an old desk that they were no longer using. We took it and Ty was able to sand and paint it. It is going to go perfectly in Mia's room.

 My workout room recently had a new addition....

 A fabulous little spin bike!

I am trying to vary my cardio workouts a bit more. My feet have been taking a tole from all of the running I do, so I am hoping the bike will give my toes a break!

Letter D

 Today was "D" Day at our house :)

We kicked off the week with D is for donut. We read, If You Give A Dog A Donut, and then used mini chocolate donuts to outline uppercase and lowercase letters.

 Zoey stacked the donuts as high as she could. we tried to count them before the tower fell, but we didn't make it!

 Then Zoey ate a few donuts. She was kind enough to share with her siblings.

 We did a little handwriting practice.

 Next was play-doh!

We used play-doh to make our own donuts and letters.

 Then I let Zoey and Zack play freestyle for quite a while.

 We had a letter hunt. Zoey used a dot marker to mark all of the D letters that were on the page.

 Later in the day we moved onto D is for Duck.

 We read 10 Little Rubber Ducks and then colored and cut out our own set of 10 rubber ducks so that we could act out our own version of the story.

We are saving the ducks for more fun tomorrow!

C is for Colors

 Today we talked about colors. We sang the color song and used our counting bears to make a rainbow pattern. Then we read, "The Rainbow Fish".

 

 Zoey painted her own rainbow fish.

She is a colorful girl! Her favorite colors are pink, purple, and yellow.

After painting there was a rainbow fish snack...aka...colored goldfish crackers.

Zoey and Bo

 This is Zoey's very favorite stuffed animal. It is a gorilla named Bo.

 Zoey loves Bo!

The Cookie Mouse

Today we read If You Give A Mouse A Cookie.

Then we made a brown bag mouse puppet.

 Zoey used chocolate chips to make the letter C. We counted the chocolate chips and then Zoey ate a few!

 There was some handwriting practice.

 And cookie making! Chocolate chip to go along with our theme.

I am loving our preschool lessons! I wish I had done it with all of the kids.

C is for Cookie

 

 We started the school week with the letter C! 

I showed Zoey the "C" is for Cookie video from Sesame Street, and then we got busy coloring a page full of chocolate chip cookies.

 Zoey practiced counting using the cookies. We put the cookies into the cookie jar and sang, "Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar". Zackary joined us for that. They loved it!

 We used the cookies to outline a big letter C, and then Zoey did a little writing practice.

School was short today, because Zoey had her first day of speech therapy! It went better than I could have hoped for and Zoey loved it.

B is for Bug

 Today we started our B is for Bugs unit! We read a lot of Eric Carle books, inluding The Very Hungry Caterpillar!

Zoey painted an egg carton caterpillar.

 We talked about the caterpillar changing into a butterfly and painted some of those too! (We used bowtie pasta for the butterflies)

Finally we watched the book made into a little movie.

So much fun!
